How to make seasonal campaigns without a new photo shoot

Checked 5 min read

Short answer

Keep one good set of reference photos of each product and make every season’s images from it with AI: new scene, props and palette, same product. Work back from the date. Black Friday is November 27, 2026 and Cyber Monday November 30; in 2027, Valentine’s Day is February 14 and US Mother’s Day May 9. On Meta, have ads live at least a week before the peak, because an ad set needs about 50 results in a week to finish learning.

The 2026 to 2027 retail calendar

Dates checked on September 24, 2026. The last column is 8 days before each date: 7 days for Meta’s learning phase, plus 1 day for ad review, which Meta says takes up to 24 hours for most ads.

One reference set, every season

The product is the one thing that must not change between seasons. Photograph it once, well, and reuse the same references for every campaign: front, back, sides, the label straight-on and a texture close-up. How to photograph your product for AI covers the set.

Keep the unchanging parts of the prompt identical. On our agency’s trouser job, the backdrop and lighting sentences were reused word for word across the store photos, and only the framing and pose changed. For a seasonal set, fix the product sentence and the camera sentence, and change the scene, props, palette and light.

If a person appears, approve a character sheet once, one image of the same person from several angles, and reuse it so the same model carries through the year. See how to keep the same model in every AI photo.

Keep seasonal props off the label and away from the product’s edges. Every prop that touches the pack is one more place for the model to redraw it. Why AI changes your product explains the failure.

Work back from the date

  1. Pick the date and the channels.
  2. Set the ads-live-by date: 8 days before the date for Meta, as in the table.
  3. Allow for review rounds. At our agency’s average of 8 renders per keeper, a 10-image seasonal set is about 80 renders to judge.
  4. Allow time for legal and platform checks: claims, AI labels and marketplace rules.
  5. Schedule the ads. Meta lets you set a future start date; the ad goes through review when you submit it and waits until then.
  6. Plan the swap: turn seasonal creative off the day after the event, or replace it with the next season’s set.

Keep the product accurate

  • Label, logo and colors match the real pack, checked at 100% zoom.
  • No seasonal edition that does not exist: no invented holiday labels, colors or bundles.
  • Props do not suggest flavors, contents or ingredients the product does not have.
  • Gift sets show only what the set contains.
  • Size looks right next to the props.
  • Offers live in the ad copy, so you can change them without remaking the image.

Run the full AI image QA checklist before each seasonal set goes live.

Questions people also ask

Can I show a limited seasonal pack that is not made yet?
Only with care. Images of a product that does not exist yet raise accuracy questions, especially for pre-orders. Read packaging mockups vs AI photos before you publish one.
How many seasonal images do I need?
Start from your ad plan: live concepts per ad set, times the sizes you run. How many ad creatives you need has a worksheet for the count.
Do I need a new mood board for each season?
A mood board works for the feeling of one campaign, as long as the brand’s own look still leads. Take light, energy and mood from it, and leave its objects out. See how to use a mood board with AI.

Where Overs fits

Overs keeps a brand’s look and its approved character sheets between campaigns, so a seasonal set starts from the same product photo and the same model. A mood board of up to twelve images sets the feeling for one campaign, and a dial decides whether the board or the brand’s own look leads.

Free for 40 photos a month. The AI that makes the photos is billed separately, on your own key, with no markup from Overs.
