Free AI product photo tools: what you actually get
Google Pomelli does the most for free. It reads your website, then turns a product photo into studio and lifestyle shots at no charge, up to "several hundred" generations (September 2026). ChatGPT and the Gemini app make product images on their free plans with unpublished limits, Canva gives 20 AI uses a month, and Figma Weave 150 credits. Read the terms first. Photoroom’s free plan is for personal use only, and Flair owns what its free users make.
The free options, compared
Each free plan below was checked on the vendor’s own pages on September 24, 2026. "Commercial use" means you may use the images to sell products, on a store page or in an ad.
| Tool | What the free plan gives you | The catch | Commercial use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Pomelli | Business DNA from your website, product photoshoots in studio or lifestyle templates, social posts and short animations | Capped at several hundred generations; English only; 18 and over | Google claims no ownership of what you generate |
| ChatGPT Free | ChatGPT Images 2.5: new scenes, edits of one area, text, transparent backgrounds | Limited and slower image generation, with no published number | You own the output under OpenAI’s terms |
| Gemini app | Image generation and editing with Nano Banana 2, from a prompt and several reference photos | Limits not published and may change; editing is for users 18 and over | Google claims no ownership of what you generate |
| Canva Free | Up to 20 AI uses a month, shared across image generation and other AI tools | Background remover, background generator and Magic Edit not included | Allowed under Canva’s AI terms, without exclusive rights |
| Adobe Firefly | Free daily generations on models such as Nano Banana | Adobe publishes no number; the limit refreshes daily | Adobe sells Firefly’s own models as safe for commercial use; for partner models, you judge |
| Figma Weave Free | 150 credits a month, all image models, 5 workflows | Credits per image depend on the model | Commercial license included |
| Flora Free | Image and text models on a node canvas | A limited number of generations; no video, API or MCP | You own all outputs |
| Photoroom Free | Background removal and edits, 100 exports a month, up to 2000 × 2000 px | A low, unstated limit on AI generations; no batch | No: personal use only |
| Pixelcut Free | Limited background removal and upscaling, with no watermark | No AI credits | A commercial license is listed on paid plans |
| Flair Free | 5 generated images and 1 custom model | Flair owns images made on the free tier | No: Flair owns them |
| Higgsfield Free | A small set of models | No credits; a watermark on every image | Not included, per its pricing table |
ComfyUI is also free to run on your own computer; Comfy charges only when you call its partner models or use Comfy Cloud.
Free trials that run out

|---|---|---|
| Botika | 8 credits, no card needed (1 photo per credit) | From $55 a month |
| FASHN | 10 credits | From $19 a month, or API credits at $0.075 |
| Raspberry AI | 50 credits, no card needed | From $49 a month |
| Claid | 50 web credits and 50 API credits | From $15 a month |
| Lamina | 100 one-time credits, about 4 images | From $59 a month |
| Adobe GenStudio for Performance Marketing | A 28-day trial that starts from a product page link, up to 50 links and 200 ads | Enterprise pricing by quote |
| Uwear | No free tier | $0.10 a credit, $17 minimum |
Free inside ad platforms
If you already sell or advertise on one of these platforms, start with its built-in tools. Google and Amazon say theirs are free.
- Google Merchant Center Product Studio: free tools that make scenes, remove or change backgrounds, raise resolution and make product videos. It is open to Merchant Center users everywhere except Russia and France; video only in Australia, Canada, India, Japan, the UK and the US.
- Google Ads Asset Studio: uses Nano Banana Pro to put one or two product photos into new scenes, with people if you want them. Its images carry a SynthID watermark.
- Amazon Ads: an image generator that makes lifestyle images from your product listings, a video generator, and a creative agent that drafts storyboards and ads. Amazon says its creative tools are currently free to use.
- Meta Advantage+ creative: image variations, generated backgrounds for catalog ads, 2-second animations and text variations inside Ads Manager. Meta adds an "AI info" label to ads that use generated images, backgrounds or animation.
- Shopify Magic: free on every Shopify plan. It removes backgrounds and, for a limited time on all plans, changes scenes and extends images at about 1 megapixel.

What free plans hold back
| Limit | Examples, September 2026 |
|---|---|
| Commercial use | Photoroom Free is for personal use only, Flair owns what its free users make, and Higgsfield’s free plan excludes commercial use |
| Watermarks | Higgsfield Free marks every image; Pomelli’s visible AI watermark is optional; ChatGPT images carry an invisible SynthID mark and C2PA metadata, and Google says every image from its Nano Banana API carries SynthID |
| Resolution | Photoroom Free exports up to 2000 × 2000 px; Pixelcut keeps HD exports for Pro |
| Volume | Canva Free allows 20 AI uses a month, Figma Weave 150 credits, Pomelli several hundred generations, and ChatGPT Free "limited and slower" generation |
| Your data | OpenAI may train on Free-plan content unless you opt out; Higgsfield may train on anything outside an Enterprise contract; Figma Weave and Flora say they do not train on your work |
Volume runs out faster than it looks. At our agency’s average of about 8 renders per usable photo, ten matching store photos take about 80 renders, four times Canva’s free monthly allowance. See how many AI renders it takes to get one usable photo, and check your store’s size rules in the best file format and size for product images.
A zero-dollar workflow for one product
- Photograph the product with your phone: front, back, the label straight on, and a texture close-up. See how to photograph your product for AI.
- In Pomelli, build your Business DNA from your website, then run a Photoshoot with up to six studio or lifestyle templates.
- Pick the best two or three results, and compare label text, logo and color with the real product at full size.
- Fix one detail in ChatGPT Free: upload the image and your label photo, select the problem area, and describe the change.
- Set your headline and logo in Canva Free. Typing text and placing a logo are not AI tools, so they do not use the 20 AI uses.
- Before you publish, run the QA checklist for AI images.
That gives you a handful of on-brand images for social posts at no cost. A full store page, or a campaign with one model across every shot, needs more renders and more control than these free limits allow.
The first paid step is small
When you outgrow free, the next step costs little. Pebblely is $9 a month for 30 images, Figma Weave $24 for 1,500 credits, and paying a model provider directly costs a few cents an image: $0.034 for Google’s Nano Banana 2 Lite and $0.067 for Nano Banana 2 at 1K. Overs sits in this middle. Its plan is free for 40 photos a month, but every render costs a few cents on your own OpenRouter key, a single account for many AI models. For a first-week plan, see how to start using AI for product photos.
Questions people also ask
- Can I sell products with images from a free plan?
- It depends on the tool. OpenAI says you own ChatGPT output, Google says it won’t claim ownership of what you generate in its services, and Canva allows commercial use under its AI terms. Photoroom’s free plan is for personal use only, Flair owns what its free users make, and Higgsfield’s pricing table excludes commercial use on its free plan. See can you use AI images commercially.
- Do free AI images have a watermark?
- Some do. Higgsfield marks every free image. Pomelli lets you add a visible AI watermark if you choose. ChatGPT images carry an invisible SynthID mark and C2PA metadata, and Google’s Nano Banana images carry SynthID. Invisible marks do not change how the image looks.
- Which free tool is best for clothes on a model?
- The fashion specialists give small free allowances rather than free plans: 8 credits at Botika, 10 at FASHN and 50 at Raspberry AI, enough to test a few garments before you pay. See AI fashion photography.
Where Overs fits
The Overs plan is free for 40 photos a month, with one brand and one seat. The AI is not free. It runs on your own key from OpenRouter, a service that bills many AI models through one account, at a few cents a photo, and the planning steps add about 20 cents a run. You see the shot plan and an estimated cost before anything is charged.
Free for 40 photos a month. The AI that makes the photos is billed separately, on your own key, with no markup from Overs.
