The four studios below publish a price per finished photo. The table shows what each studio’s own pricing page listed on September 24, 2026. "From" prices are the lowest tier. The photos a product page needs are listed in what product photos an online store needs.

Day rates when you hire your own team

Brands that want a particular photographer hire a crew and pay by the day. Wonderful Machine, a photo production agency, publishes estimates from its own jobs. Its July 2026 estimate for a sports apparel brand used the first nine rates below; the rest come from marketplace and studio price lists.

Quotes vary widely, and most photographers set their own rates: the Bureau of Labor Statistics says 67% of photographers are self-employed, and puts the median wage of employed photographers at $21.47 an hour (May 2025). Usage rights, the line item people forget

A usage license says where and for how long you may use the photos. Some per-photo studios build it in. Commercial photographers price it separately, and it can cost more than the shoot day.

  • soona says there are no usage or renewal fees on the content you buy.
  • Squareshot includes 6 months of usage for photos of its models, with 12 months or perpetual use for an extra fee.
  • In Wonderful Machine’s July 2026 estimate, three years of web, ecommerce and paid social use of 125 images was priced at $19,800, on top of the $2,500-a-day creative fee.
  • In a February 2025 estimate from the same agency, six months of unlimited use cost $1,000 an image, and six months of web and advertising use cost $150 an image.

Get usage in writing before the shoot: which channels (web, paid social, print, packaging, TV), which countries, and how many months. Photos with a recognizable model can come with a time limit, such as Squareshot’s 6-month default. Do AI-generated models need model releases covers the people side.

Sample budget: 30 photos, three ways

One brief, priced three ways: 10 white-background packshots, 10 lifestyle photos and 10 photos on a model. Each column uses that company’s published prices, and every assumption is in the caption.

Total$2,026$858, plus a model and hair and makeup$13,790, plus the usage license, producer, props and catering
Assumptions: soona model booked for 2 hours, with the pure-white edit at its $9 starting price; ProShot on-model session of 1 hour and one lifestyle scene; crew rates from Wonderful Machine’s July 2026 estimate and a weekday studio day at CC Studios Miami. Prices checked September 24, 2026.

Most of the crew total is people: $7,580 of the $13,790 pays the photographer, crew, model, and hair and makeup. At the per-photo studios, the photographer, the set and a basic edit sit inside the photo price, while models and hair and makeup are billed on top.

What pushes the price up

  • Hard products. At Shootify, a simple product on white costs $48 a photo in small orders, a complex one $78, reflective cosmetics $82, and a styled beauty shot $220 to $260. Squareshot counts jewelry and watches as two credits.
  • People. Models, hair and makeup, and model usage are the largest add-ons, and model shoots have minimums: Squareshot requires 20 images.
  • Rush delivery. Squareshot adds 25% to 50%. Shootify adds 100% for orders of 1 to 10 photos and 50% for larger ones.
  • More setups. Every new lifestyle scene at ProShot Media adds a $139 setup fee.
  • Locations. The Wonderful Machine estimate rented a home at $3,500 a day for each room set and a stadium parking lot at $2,500 a day.
  • Longer or wider usage, as in the license examples above.

How to compare two quotes

  • Price per finished, retouched photo.
  • What the photo price includes: steaming, styling, retouching level, file formats. Squareshot, for example, charges $3 an image for TIFF or PSD files.
  • Model fees, hair and makeup, and any agency fee (20% in the Wonderful Machine estimate).
  • Usage: channels, countries and months, for the photos and for the model.
  • Minimum order and minimum hours.
  • Delivery time and the rush fee.
  • What happens if a photo is wrong or a product arrives damaged.
  • Who keeps the raw files and for how long. Shootify stores files for up to 2 months.

Questions people also ask

Is a freelance photographer cheaper than a studio?
For a few simple photos, it can be: Snappr lists photographers from $89 for one hour, while soona’s studio fee alone is $149. For a styled shoot with a model, a freelancer brings the same extra costs a studio lists (model, hair and makeup, props, studio rental, retouching), so compare full quotes line by line.
How long does a product shoot take to deliver?
At the studios checked here: soona delivers in 24 to 72 hours depending on your plan, ProShot Media in 7 days, Squareshot in 6 business days for model shoots and 8 days for product shoots, and Shootify in 8 business days. Rush fees run from 25% to 100% extra.
Can AI replace part of the shoot?
For some shots. You can shoot clean packshots once and make lifestyle and seasonal images from them with AI. AI vs a photo shoot prices the same 30-photo job with AI, and can AI replace a product photo shoot covers which shots still need a camera.
Do I own the photos?
You get the rights your contract gives you. soona says its content has no usage or renewal fees; Squareshot includes 6 months of use for photos of its models, with longer terms for a fee. Get the terms in writing before the shoot.

Where Overs fits

Overs does not run photo shoots. It makes product and campaign photos from one photo of your product and your brand details, so a clean packshot can become lifestyle and on-model images. The plan is free for 40 photos a month; the AI itself costs a few cents a photo on your own OpenRouter key (OpenRouter is a service that bills many AI models in one account).

Free for 40 photos a month. The AI that makes the photos is billed separately, on your own key, with no markup from Overs.
